Direct help for families in crisis, with a significant focus on cancer patients.

This program gives targeted assistance to extremely vulnerable families facing severe financial, household and medical difficulty, in situations where a household cannot meet essential costs from its own resources.

A significant component is medical assistance for cancer patients. Prolonged treatment can create a financial burden that ends the treatment rather than the illness, particularly where care is repeated over months.

To date 10 vulnerable families have been assisted, including 5 cancer patients who received help toward their treatment. The program allows patients to continue care that would otherwise have stopped.

Why the focus on cancer patients?

Because cancer treatment creates a financial burden a low-income family cannot absorb, and the usual result is that treatment stops. Assistance here changes the medical outcome, not only the household budget.

How many families have been helped?

This is a small number for a large amount. Why?

Because serious medical treatment is expensive per household. The program is deliberately deep rather than wide.
