Access to clean and reliable drinking water is still out of reach for many rural communities in Pakistan. Families depend on sources that are unsafe, a long walk away, or both. This program installs sustainable water sources where getting safe water is a daily problem.
540 hand pumps have been installed to date, serving approximately 32,000 families. Each one shortens the distance between a household and drinkable water, which changes far more than thirst: it cuts the illness that comes from contaminated sources, and it gives back the hours a family spends fetching water.
The program favors durable, locally repairable equipment over anything that stops working the first time it breaks. A pump nobody can fix is not a water supply.

What is the D.G. Khan Water Well Initiative?
A dedicated expansion launched in September 2025 in Dera Ghazi Khan and the surrounding villages, an area with significant water shortages. It has delivered 8 water wells and 1 water filtration plant.
Why wells and a filtration plant rather than more hand pumps?
Where groundwater is deep or unsafe, a hand pump is not enough. Larger community facilities and filtration address availability and quality together.
